KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 (Bernama) — The “Warna-Warni Aidilfitri 2014” promotion from July 12 to 23 is expected to net sales amounting to RM3 million, said Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz. He said the target was based on increased sales annually, with the last edition seeing total sales of RM2.2 million.
“Seeing the encouraging achievement, I hope this “Warna-Warni Aidilfitri” promotion will continue to be held. It can help the crafts industry become another revenue generator for the country,” he said. Mohamed Nazri said this in his speech text for the promotion, which was read out by the ministry’s deputy secretary-general Datuk Ab.Ghaffar A.Tambi here Sunday.
The 12-day promotion showcases handicrafts, textiles, earthenware, jungle produce and metal works that can be used as decorative items for the Aidilfitri celebration. The promotion in the city is being held at the Kuala Lumpur Crafts Complex and the hours are from 10am to 10pm. It is also being held at 17 selected shopping centres in Selangor, Melaka, Perak, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak.
